Preston and Hunter come over occasionally and have dinner with us. I can't believe there are three of us here in Utah. It's really nice to have so much family on both sides so conveniently close; people might think Utah isn't glamorous but having family close makes it the perfect place for us. 

We filled in for the four year old primary teachers without much notice and ended up running out of activities early. So they decided to make a train and run over David and he was a good sport about it.

Since we make our blogs into books annually I wanted to write a few memories from this pregnancy to look back on. 

Hiccups: Weirdly enough when she gets hiccups I feel kind of tired and winded. Maybe because she's so big now? Or it's like sympathy tiredness because it feels like her whole body is moving with the hiccups and they go on for a while which must be exhausting.  

Big Booty: She's been doing this for a while but she's very into sticking her behind out on my left or right side. It's weird to look down and see a huge bump on one side of my stomach and feel it and be like yep, that's your rump kid. Make yourself comfortable. It's also odd that the other side of my stomach feels completely empty when she does this. She really enjoys a good snuggle to one side, which I'm thinking will mean swaddling will be a must with this one. 

Left side probs: They say the best side to sleep on is your left for blood flow and digestion purposes. But every time I do I feel some sort of baby limb slide underneath me as far left as possible and it makes me feel like I'm squishing her. She doesn't care I need heartburn relief occasionally I guess, haha. 

Disappearing Belly Button: David enjoys checking in and laughing at my disappearing belly button. I didn't really think about this prior to pregnancy so it's been kind of weird. I think David's hoping it will pop out at some point and since I'm 32 weeks (!) tomorrow he still might see it happen.

Nesting: If I had the time and money was not an object I would buy everything we still need tomorrow. I just want to be crazy prepared- bags packed, car seat in the car, baby clothes washed, sheets on the crib, nursery decorated, freezer meals prepared, classes taken, all books read tomorrow. I know I still have 2 months to go but I have this urge to be ready at any second. I think I'm compensating for the uncertainty and lack of control that comes with first-time parenthood. I know it's going to be hard and I want to, at least on this end of it, do everything I can in advance to be successful. 

Nursery!! So I've gone back and forth with this- practical me says "babies don't care what the nursery looks like" and hormonal, first time mom me says "only the best, cutest everything for my baby girl!!" I've tried to keep a happy medium, such as not painting the room, but also picking colors and so all the fabrics/decorations go together, which is fun. Plus her room is half office half nursery so I love that part of the room can feel baby dedicated, not baby after-thought in a corner.

Preston and I went to lunch with Grandma and Grandpa Smith which was fun.

In October, David's work was considering a new office space in downtown Salt Lake right by a frontrunner stop. So we decided to test it out one Saturday and take the frontrunner to Salt Lake, check out the walk to the office, go to the mall and have dinner.

We enjoyed trying something new but I was glad when they chose another location to move the office to because the stop was right by where all the homeless services are in Salt Lake and I would have worried about David.

CA + NYC

I've been doing some traveling lately. First I went to the headquarters of company in Menlo Park in Northern California on 1 Hacker's Way (hint, hint). It was so we could participate in a holiday pop up shop for their employees. I don't think I was allowed to take pictures but here are some pictures from a tour we took with an employee, sorry Mark.

We mostly spent our time in a vanilla multi-purpose room but we did hear a little about some cool virtual reality projects and saw some staff vending machines full of tech gadgets so that lived up to this company's reputation.

Next was my best friend's wedding in Northridge during New Years. I've never been part of a wedding party (except for my own) so that was a fun experience. 

It was fun being the bumpin' bridesmaid. I was glad Emilie choose black for our dresses because maternity wear happens to come in black often.

NYC

Then last week I went on a quick trip to New York last week and enjoyed it at 27 weeks along. My boss is awesome and I think let us Uber more than she usually would for me. Now I'm in the third trimester and don't plan on taking any other big trips.

We had a few meetings with Vogue and other magazines in the One World Trade Center. It was such a gorgeous (and high security) building. One of the editors told us how to get to the shopping/food court section from the Conde Nast offices and she told us they called that area "Dubai" because of the palm trees and insanely high end shops. I took a picture of "Dubai."

I should have taken pictures of the city itself but it was a little bit of a whirlwind trip. I loved it and am so lucky I got to go.

Baby Girl Update 

I can't get over the size of the newborn clothes (I was showing size relative to my hand), I can't believe we will have someone who will fit into these clothes in just three months! Luckily I've had a really easy/healthy pregnancy so far and I'm hoping to keep it that way. I get to do the glucose test this week and that should be super enjoyable... not. 

20 Weeks Photos (8 weeks ago)

Unless I wear well-fitted, not flowy maternity clothes people still don't notice I'm pregnant. Usually my boss or coworkers will tell someone new I'm pregnant. I think it's because I'm tall and carry wide- she's stretched out across me most of the time. Her bum is usually butted up against my left side and I feel little flutters on my right. I don't blame her, I spread out in bed too haha.
