Moving Update

This Summer is coming to a close and when I look back I know we had a lot of fun trips but all I really remember is the whirlwind of the final house projects, listing the house, a crazy open house and week of showings, a spreadsheet of offers, trips to look at homes in Salt Lake county and finally two houses under contract- the one we're selling and the one we're buying!

I feel like I really hit the "love" stage of owning this house after all the hard work we put in to get it ready to sell. David had obviously done way more when he finished the basement but something about this last burst of investment left me sad about saying goodbye to something we worked so hard on.

The funny thing is it kind of feels like we're moving to our first house. We've never actually lived in an entire house before. We lived in the upstairs when we were finishing the basement and we lived downstairs while we rented the rest of the house. Even now when the entire house is free to roam around in, it's not furnished upstairs so we're really not living in the whole thing.

The house we're moving to checks all the major boxes we were looking for: in a cul-de-sac, family friendly neighborhood with kids running around, built in the 90s (so we won't have to worry about some of the repairs we did on the first house), good schools, able to grow into in, and close to David's office. We're excited to get to update paint and finishes to our taste over time but overall we're way happy! Especially David who can't stop talking about his third car garage workshop.

I'm just so grateful to be married to a smarty pants who saw the amazing investment opportunity in the first house which allows us to move to a great second home in a financially responsible way. I'll share more pictures when we actually close (the few weeks of due diligence and appraisals and what not is still soooo scary!!). We're excited for our next adventure in Sandy!
