Honeymoon part 2

Sunday, January 20, 2013

Be forewarned: there may be a lot of content about horses in this post. Now we are on day 2-5 of the honeymoon. We ate some breakfast and decided to drive a little further up the cost then inland to the little town of Solvang. Why you ask? Because it's basically the bomb.com and you should go there sometime.

The plan was to visit ostrich land just outside of Solvang first. Some brides just want romantic sunsets, long walks on the beach, foot massages and bubble baths. Now you have met the one who thought it would be cool to go to an ostrich farm. And not to give me all the credit- David was the groom who didn't bat an eye and said, "let's do it." (5 star husband right here- puts up with crazy accents and ostrich farms).

We got to Ostrich Land and it was pouring rain. Sadly we were umbrella-less and so ultimately made the life-altering decision to only look around the gift shop. Sigh, dreams shattered (I jest!).

So we did that and continued on to the faux danish village of Solvang. Where it continued to pour, so excuse my looking a bit like a drenched cat. David looks great, check him out instead ;).

We bought an umbrella- big enough for two. Totally a honeymoon umbrella, strolling arm in arm over the cobblestone. Le sigh.

I've never had a strong desire to go antiquing, but this store was mind boggling. I've never seen so much authentic and awesome old stuff except in museums.

Okay, I'm gonna get real here. This town is about 2 blocks of the cuteness. Then it ends. So... we needed something to do. We drove to the theater grabbed tickets to Lincoln then drove around the hills in the jeep waiting for the movie to start. Cue horses.

David the horse whisperer- he literally had them eating out of the palm of his hand.

Did I squeal "horsies!!" at some point in all this? The world may never know.

It was nuzzling his ear, I just missed the shot.

Panoramas of the countryside?

David may have been slightly proud of the new jeep's off-roading ability.

Okay let's get to some funnies -- like Sunday night soup for dinner pictures

More gorgeous field pictures. I felt like I was in another country it was luscious.

It was sad to leave Monday morning but we enjoyed every minute of our time there. Our honeymoon was probably kind of unconventional, but I say "who cares!" Sometimes you have to draw outside the lines and do what works for you. And a quirky Danish village and gorgeous scenery, some horses and beach worked amazingly for us.
